Away Ride or No Away Ride
Away or No Away. The Club seems to have a problem pulling riders out for away rides. This must have something to do with our having problems pulling people out for meetings. I know, what meetings you say, I can verify that the club will have a meeting from time to time. Look for the next meeting date listed right here on this very site.
We need some ideas on how to proceed. We could just go on having 2 or 3 people show up for the away ride. But when 2 or 3 riders show up it’s like going for ice cream and the clerk says we are all out, WHAT! Away rides should be a special event, something to look forward to. So go out to the garage, put on your cycling helmet and think of a way we can bring new life to this old tradition. While your there you may want to clean your bike, I see lots of dirty bikes on our DBBC rides. Think Clean, Be Creative and oh yes report back… just use the comment box below this post. CUONTHEROADR I did say you need to think!

How about we do something like this…
We match our away rides to coincide with another clubs rides.
1] World Golf Village ride [ NFBC ride ] Rt.95 & world Golf
2] Some of the Florida Freewheelers rides are from Deland [ DCC ]
and Sugar Loaf, Clermont area also. For those who want hills.
3] The Port Orange group rides.
4] New Smyrna Beach, Edgewater, Oak Hill.
Any of these would take little planning.
Anyone that showed up to ride would still have riders to ride with.
Go to: Our site / Rides / Sunday / Overview. This lists some Sat. & Sunday rides.
Or we can just complain and do the same thing expecting a different outcome!

I’m confused. Am I supposed to clean my bike(s) or ride it?
Clean A’s bike, your jersey and were good.
Maybe you could clean everyones bike that went to an away ride.
Ya that would bring em out. : ]R
I find most peopledo not go to the away rides. I feel those not showing up are lost. I am thinking we (riders who do show) should get paid for the travel and lunch. If everybody brought their bikes to George’s house, he would clean them and give directions to those people who did not make it to the last ride. People (club members) not showing up for the away rides should be charged for the miles not ridden/driven and those actually participating in club events wopuld be compensated for their efforts. As for washing jerseys – is it really necessary? Way too many people are just drafting off the rest and really not doing their share of work. If we do not wash jerseys, it would eliminate most drafting and cause people to want to go to the front (for obvious reasons) then all would right in the world, Hunger would be eliminated, energy would be boundless, bikes would be clean and most important – PEOPLE WOULD SHOW UP FOR AWAY RIDES!!! Big…
I like the idea of George cleaning bikes and my getting paid to ride. Just a couple questions – how much does it pay per mile and where do I sign up? I think I’ll pass on cycling in the dirty jersey – I’m afraid the smell would attract wild animals.
An away ride in the Sugarloaf area would be fun.
We can go anywhere, but we need riders to go !
What is your idea?

I good for any away ride from now on. Let me know and I will clean my bike, and maybe wash my Jersey.
