Many thanks to Minnow (aka Minna) for her generosity of allowing the DBBC to invade her home for the Winter Party. As usual she went all out with a little help (I am sure) from her best buddy Ella. All the extra food items brought from the kitchens of Club members was a real treat. The main dishes, all organized by Keith were the best. Not much was left over as most people were able to eat and drink just enough to to be sated – and then some. Thanks again Minnow for the loan of your home and to Keith for the main courses.
If you were not there – you missed a great get together and the comraderie of the DBBC without wheels.

Winter (a.k.a. Cold Weather) Party is Hereby Announced!

On Saturday, January 14th The Mostly Annual DBBC Winter Party is held at 5pm at Minna’s home.
DBBC will provide mains and sides. Members are asked to bring an appetizer or dessert. Beer, wine and soft drinks will be provided by the DBBC. Phyiscal address is 5 Walnut Circle (in the Village of Pine Run) Ormond Beach 32174. House phone number is 386-673-2844 if need further directions.

Ride Time Change!!!

Starting Sunday (Eddy, starting Sunday) the SUN, WED & FRI DBBC rides will start [at all locations] 30 min later than normal. That is correct ALL START times are now 30 min later. This is due to the darkening of the skies resulting in drivers being less attuned to bicycle riders, also allows an extra bit of time in bed… [And remember, DST or Fall back starts Nov. 6th]

March Meeting!!!

The March meeting, at Halifax Plantation Restaurant, is scheduled for 24 March, 1800 (6:00 PM) for dinner and 1900 (7:00 PM) for the meeting portion of The Show. Hopefully discussion will evolve to a quiet roar and we can get the basic parts of most people to have an enlightened epiphany so as to calm any fears and let us get back to just doing some riding. Hope to see as many as last meeting. Bring along some ideas and a “I want to make a difference” attitude. “And remember, no disintegrations.”, as spoken by my mentor – Darth Vader…

FEB Meeting Day, Place, is Set

Next DBBC meeting will be on 3 FEB 1800 (6:00 PM) for food and 1900 (7:00PM) for mtg. This may well be THE plan for the REST of the Club. Try and attend. Meeting will be at Halifax Plantation restaurant, this is just up the road from where we meet for WED/FRI rides. Small room for us and order off the menu. Reasonable $$ and pretty good food. See you then.

Lake Dias Away Ride for SUN 30 JAN

Ron Phillips has arranged a ride near Deland starting from Lake Dias, just off SR 11. Check out the map on Map My Ride. Just click on the map and play with it. See ya there.
Start time 0900, ride to Deleon Springs State Park ($2.00 admission) go to restaurant there (more $$) then back to start. About 33 miles total. See you there.
The start is about an ahour from Palm Coast, a little less from Daytona, a little more from Orlando, a lot less if George drives (put smiley face here – I do not do emoticons).

Start Times for all DBBC Rides Now at Regular Times

All DBBC rides are now starting at regular times (times listed in the RIDES section). Should be light enough for normal start times to resume. This will also allow for about an hour of solar radiation to begin the more rapid movement of molecules (heating) to occur.
PC Riders will not start at temps below 45f. at regular time. Below 45f. at regular time will result in a delayed start with arrival at Halifax Plantation at 1000. The ride will then continue to Panera Bread in Ormond, as per last year as the temps dwindled into the Arctic arena. If there are any questions or problems, just grin and bear it, then cover up and hibernate – it will get warmer, soon. Ask any questions with the REPLY box at the end of this box. Warm riding.

NOV Meeting Announcement

The DBBC will meet in Nov on the 11th at Vince Carter’s (Eric’s Nephew, he does not deny this – yet) at 1800 (6:00 pm) for food. (Be sure to order firmly as your server may not really understand you wish to have your food s o o n) and the business mtg will occurr at 1900 (7:00 pm) If you have not been to VC Restaurant, plan on attending. It is very nice and food can be reasonable. Drinks are on the high side, but they are everywhere. Use it as a “date night”, make up for not going out very often, being sorry “I got you into this mess” apology night, which I will not get into now, too long a story.
Please have an idea to share as to the direction you wish the DBBC to take during the coming year. It is your club, make it work with you.

Read the minutes from the LAST (OCT) meeting. If you read them now, you can vote them “approved” without having to listen to what has already happened and you cannot do anything about it anyway.

2010 Victor River Ride

30/40/50 mile, well marked routes along the St Johns River. Start time is 9:00 Riverdale Park on SR 13, in St. Johns County, FL, approximately 12 miles West of St. Augustine, FL. NO FOOD OR WATER STATIONS ON THE ROUTES. Convenience stores are available if needed. Donations for the Lance Armstrong Foundation are accepted. All money donated will be sent to the LAF by the Daytona Bike Club in memory of Victor D’Alessio. If you bring some, there will be food available after the ride. Bring a covered dish to share with others (4 or so servings is plenty). Ice and coolers for food storage are available and refreshments provided. Presidential Tea Party

The President and First Lady are hosting The Summer Bike Ride and Swim and Eating Party at the Big House in Enterprise, FL (The Southern Presidential Retreat) also known as the Phoenix Home and the Old Aluminum Foundry. Ride start is 0900 so be there in time to find a parking slot outside the gated cement pond. Bring something if you wish. Chocolate is always welcome or some other type of wholesome, desert with lots of sugar or just some sugar and lots of chocolate (did I mention chocolate is desired?) would be appropriate. There will be beer and wine with various soda head drinks as well. If you have favorites of any type, bring it along – remember – someone must drive home.

Address: 1432 Stone Trail, Enterprise FL (use Deltona if Enterprise does not function with your GPS.

DETAILS: Start time for the ride is 0900. The routes will be marked. No one will ride alone. Maps will also be provided. You got a boat? Shallow draft? Bring it!

From I-95: Get on I-4 West (like you have a choice). Get off at exit 108. Turn left. Go about a mile. Turn right on Main Street (there is a light). Go about 4 miles, turn right on Stone Island Road. Go 1/2 mile. Turn right on Stone Trail. Go 1/2 mile to 1432 Stone Trial., lots of parking in the vacant lot (just past to my house).

From 415: Go south until you get to Enterprise-Osteen Road, between the Texaco and the Sunoco stations. Turn right. Go 4 miles. Turn left on to Stone Island Road. Go 1/2 mile, to Stone Trail, turn right right onto Stone Trail. Go 1/2 mile, lots of parking on the right just past my house.

Susan and Bill are looking forward to seeing ya’ll. They will be disappointed, if you do not come.

Your courtesy of alerting the Secret Service/food prep personnel (407-321-7526) is greatly appreciated. There are only three OFFICIAL away rides for the year (as discussed in a past meeting, you should have been there if you had input). This is one, the next one is the Victor Ride to be announced at a later time. Next meeting is posted on the web site – look at it and plan to attend.

Lots of information but – let Bill and Susan know if you are planning to attend and if you are bringing a guest (or three).
